The island is one of British Columbia’s Gulf Islands which lay between Vancouver Island, the British Columbia mainland and in the same group as the US San Juan Islands. With a population of just over a thousand people, the vibe is very laid back.

Two courts and a practice wall built in 2008 are well maintained and attract a lot of local island players.  A garden like setting with beautifully landscaped grounds are the setting for the tiny island’s club.  Courts are open to the public.  A donation box assists with maintenance and operation of the community tennis facility.

What to Do After Playing Tennis at Mayne Island Tennis Courts-Springwater Lodge Restaurant and Patio

The patio of the Springwater Lodge restaurant overlooks Miners Bay above Active Pass, the main channel for the ferries between Vancouver and Victoria.  It’s a favorite place for people to watch the ferries go by on a sunny afternoon while eating pub style food.

Historically the area was a favorite stopover for miners going to the Fraser River and Caribou Gold Rushes.   The lodge is the oldest continuously operated hotel in British Columbia and is well worth a visit.
